How do Austrian diamond processors achieve Zero-loss processing with YC waterjet machines?
In the high-end diamond and crystal processing industry, every millimeter of material matters. Austrian customers visited our company on June 7-8 to inspect the ordered 3D MAX 5-axis waterjet cutting machine.
As a long-term partner in the decorative crystal industry, the Austrian client required a cutting technology capable of handling multilayer diamond materials while maintaining flawless edge quality and maximizing material utilization. After evaluating multiple technologies, they selected YC WATERJET’s Max 5-axis waterjet cutting machine for its cold-cutting capability, exceptional precision, and flexible 3D processing performance.
Unlike laser or thermal cutting technologies, waterjet cutting generates no heat-affected zone (HAZ). This is especially important when processing fragile crystal laminates, decorative composites, and high-value diamond-pattern materials. YC WATERJET uses ultra-high-pressure water combined with garnet abrasive to create a highly focused cutting stream capable of producing smooth edges without burning, deformation, or micro-cracks.

The Austrian customer utilized the YC Max 5-axis system to process intricate geometric patterns and artistic decorative panels for luxury architectural applications. Thanks to the machine’s ±45° bevel axis and ±540° rotary axis capability, the cutting head can perform complex angle compensation and true 3D cutting operations with outstanding precision.
One of the biggest advantages for diamond and crystal processing is the machine’s ability to minimize material waste. Traditional machining methods often require secondary grinding or polishing due to damaged cutting edges. However, YC’s cold-cutting technology produces extremely smooth cutting sections directly during processing, significantly reducing post-processing time and preserving expensive raw materials.
This allows the Austrian manufacturer to achieve what they describe as “zero-loss processing” for many high-value decorative components. Higher cutting precision also means tighter nesting layouts, improved material utilization, and lower production costs for luxury decorative products.
The project also demonstrated the flexibility of YC WATERJET equipment in handling multilayer and composite decorative materials. The Austrian customer developed various innovative laminated crystal structures widely used in luxury interiors, exhibition halls, hotels, and architectural decoration.
Through waterjet processing, they were able to transform complex artistic concepts into finished products with sharp details, seamless joints, and consistent quality. Even highly detailed honeycomb and geometric patterns could be processed cleanly without damaging surrounding materials.
YC WATERJET’s advanced CNC control system and intelligent 5-axis compensation technology further ensured cutting accuracy during long production cycles. Even when processing highly detailed patterns, the machine maintained excellent dimensional consistency and stable cutting quality.
