    A A water jet cutter is an industrial CNC machine that cuts materials using a hyper-pressurized (up to 90,000 PSI) water stream mixed with abrasive garnet. Unlike thermal methods, it operates as a cold-cutting process, eliminating heat-induced distortions.

  • Q How does a waterjet cutter work?

    A The process involves three stages:  

    1. Pressurization: Water is compressed to 60,000–90,000 PSI.  
    2. Abrasive injection: Garnet enters the stream in a mixing tube, transforming water into a micro-erosion tool.  
    3. Cutting: The abrasive jet travels at Mach 3 (2,500 km/h), eroding material particle-by-particle.  

    Pure water mode (no abrasives) cuts soft materials like food or foam.

  • Q Which materials can waterjet cut?

    A Waterjet handles virtually any material, including:  

    - Metals: Steel, titanium, aluminum (up to 300mm thick), etc.  
    - Composites: Carbon fiber (no delamination), Kevlar, etc.  
    - Sensitive materials: Food (sanitary cutting), explosives, foam, etc.  
    - Other: Glass, rubber, ceramics, stone(crystal, marble, granite), tungsten carbide, etc.  
  • Q Can waterjet cut bevels or 3D shapes?

    A Yes. 5-axis cutting heads can perform bevel cutting.

    Dynamic 5 axis - bevel cutting:
    Dynamic 5 axis cutting head X, Y, Z axis for transmission, A,B axis for compensation 0°-±10°.
    The Dynamic 5 axis water jet cutting machine is specially used to cut marble and granite, it can compensate ±10° cutting angle. It is one kind of bevel cutting machine.

    A Standard CNC waterjet cutting machine precision metrics:

    (Taper compensation heads further improve vertical edge precision on thick materials).
  • Q What power supply and utility requirements are needed to run the waterjet machine?

    A Power: Requires a 3-phase industrial power supply (e.g., 380V/415V/480V, 50Hz/60Hz, depending on your local grid).
    Water Supply: Requires clean inlet water (softened/filtered water is recommended to prolong high-pressure seal life).
    Compressed Air: Clean, dry compressed air (approx. 0.6–0.8 MPa) is required for pneumatic valve operation and abrasive delivery.
  • Q What is the difference between Direct Drive pumps and Intensifier pumps?

    A Intensifier Pump: Ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications, offering stable high pressure (up to 400 MPa / 60,000 psi or higher) and continuous long-hour operation.
    Direct Drive Pump: Highly energy-efficient (up to 85–90% power conversion), quiet, and suitable for low-to-medium continuous production needs.
  • Q Does waterjet cutting cause thermal deformation or affect material properties?

    A No. Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process. It generates no Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ), preventing thermal distortion, cracking, or material hardening along the cut edge, eliminating the need for secondary finishing.
  • Q What is the maximum cutting thickness for different materials?

    A Maximum thickness depends on material hardness and pump pressure. Based on our test data, the practical effective thicknesses (at reasonable cutting speeds) are:
    Stainless steel – up to about 100 mm. With a single pump (4137 bar, 3.7 L/min), the cutting speed at 100 mm is around 14 mm/min; with a dual‑pump system, it increases to about 26 mm/min.
    Glass – up to about 20 mm. At 20 mm thickness, a single pump gives a cutting speed of 450 mm/min (dual‑pump would be significantly faster).
    Thicker pieces can be cut, but the cutting speed decreases to some extent. A dual‑pump setup not only boosts speed but also allows slightly thicker cuts in practice.
    For other materials like titanium or marble, we can provide specific data upon request.
  • Q Can the cutting head configuration be customized for specific applications?

    A Absolutely. You can choose between pure waterjet (for soft materials) or abrasive waterjet (for hard materials), standard 3-axis, 5-axis bevel/3D cutting heads (for 45-degree chamfering or taper compensation), dynamic 5-axis cutting heads (for 10-degree taper compensation and vertical cutting without speed loss), and double/multi-head configurations for volume production and higher efficiency.
    In addition, for special cutting needs—particularly large‑format metal processing—we also provide a dual‑gantry configuration, where two independent 5‑axis cutting heads are mounted on separate gantries. This design allows simultaneous or coordinated cutting of oversized workpieces, greatly improving efficiency and flexibility for heavy‑duty applications.
  • Q Do you support OEM/ODM branding and custom color schemes?

    A Yes. As an original equipment manufacturer, we offer OEM and ODM services. We can customize waterjet cutting machine aesthetics, colors, logo placement, control cabinet design, and software interface according to your branding requirements.
  • Q Can I customize the cutting table size to fit my workspace or specific material dimensions?

    A Yes. In addition to our standard sizes (e.g., 3000×1500mm, 3000×2000mm), we offer fully customized working table dimensions (both bed length and width, as well as Z-axis height) to accommodate your material formats and floor layout.
    During the inquiry phase, we can provide you with standard system layout drawings, including the arrangement of water, electricity, and compressed air lines (the compressed air is used for transporting garnet abrasive).   • Q How quickly can I get wear parts and replacement components?

    A We maintain a stock of standard consumable parts (nozzles, high-pressure seals, valve repairs) and ship them within 24–48 hours via express air courier (DHL/FedEx/UPS). In addition, the core consumables of the YC Waterjet system are directly sourced from the original manufacturers in the United States—Accustream/Hypertherm—instead of using domestic imitation parts. If a part fails, original replacement parts are available, so there is no need to worry about equipment sitting idle due to discontinued parts. The global supply chain is stable over the long term.
  • Q How do you provide technical support and installation for overseas customers?
