  • Q Which materials can waterjet cut?

    A Waterjet handles virtually any material, including:  

    - Metals: Steel, titanium, aluminum (up to 300mm thick), etc.  
    - Composites: Carbon fiber (no delamination), Kevlar, etc.  
    - Sensitive materials: Food (sanitary cutting), explosives, foam, etc.  
    - Other: Glass, rubber, ceramics, stone(crystal, marble, granite), tungsten carbide, etc.  
  • Q Can waterjet cut bevels or 3D shapes?

    A Yes. 5-axis cutting heads can perform bevel cutting.

    Dynamic 5 axis - bevel cutting:
    Dynamic 5 axis cutting head X, Y, Z axis for transmission, A,B axis for compensation 0°-±10°.
    The Dynamic 5 axis water jet cutting machine is specially used to cut marble and granite, it can compensate ±10° cutting angle. It is one kind of bevel cutting machine.
     

    Max5 axis - 3D cutting:
    Angled bevels (0–45°) for weld-ready edges.  
    3D contouring for prototypes, molds, and artistic sculptures.  
    Stack cutting: Processes multiple layers simultaneously (e.g., 100 fabric sheets).  
  • Q Why use water jet cutting over other methods?

    A Waterjet dominates in scenarios where precision and material integrity are critical:  

    ✅ Zero Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ): Preserves material properties (e.g., aerospace titanium, tempered glass).  
    ✅ Omni-material capability: Seamlessly switches between rubber, composites, metals, and foods on the same setup.  
    ✅ No tool changes: Cuts 300mm-thick steel and 0.5mm paper with identical equipment.  
    ✅ Sustainable: Garnet abrasives are 90% recyclable; water consumption is 1/3 of laser cooling systems.  
  • Q Does waterjet cutting cause thermal deformation or affect material properties?

    A No. Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process. It generates no Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ), preventing thermal distortion, cracking, or material hardening along the cut edge, eliminating the need for secondary finishing.
  • Q What is the maximum cutting thickness for different materials?

    A Maximum thickness depends on material hardness and pump pressure. Based on our test data, the practical effective thicknesses (at reasonable cutting speeds) are:
    Stainless steel – up to about 100 mm. With a single pump (4137 bar, 3.7 L/min), the cutting speed at 100 mm is around 14 mm/min; with a dual‑pump system, it increases to about 26 mm/min.
    Glass – up to about 20 mm. At 20 mm thickness, a single pump gives a cutting speed of 450 mm/min (dual‑pump would be significantly faster).
    Thicker pieces can be cut, but the cutting speed decreases to some extent. A dual‑pump setup not only boosts speed but also allows slightly thicker cuts in practice.
    For other materials like titanium or marble, we can provide specific data upon request.
