Function and Selection Standard of Water Jet Cutting Abrasive

Publish Time: 2020-05-18     Origin: Site

Recently, water jet cutting machine has been widely applied in all walks of life, almost every field of materials can be cut by abrasive water jet .The reason why water jet can cut such a large range of materials is not only advantages of the equipment, but also the water jet cutting abrasive.

At present, there are three kinds of commonly used water jet cutting abrasive on the market. They are 60 mesh garnet abrasive, 80 mesh and 120 mesh garnet abrasive, respectively corresponds different cutting materials. 60 mesh garnet can be used for cutting stone, rubber, wood and other materials. It will improve the cutting efficiency but the accuracy of cutting surface may be reduced. 80 mesh garnet abrasive is widely used for cutting carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium and other materials, which can perfectly balance the cutting speed and cutting surface precision.

In contrast, 120 mesh garnet abrasive can meet the requirements of high precision and low cutting surface tolerance, which is very suitable for cutting glass, semiconductor and other materials.

Without abrasive, the water jet cutting machine can never achieve the expected cutting accuracy and depth, which fully proved the importance of water jet cutting abrasive. Some people experimented on this situation, they found the water jet cutting without abrasive can only cut up to 3mm thick titanium plate, and the incision is serrated. However, if garnet abrasive is added to the water jet cutting machine, not only the section is smooth, the precision is also improved, and the thickness of the plate is not limited.
